What region(s) of the world do you have experience with, and what kind of experience do you have? (“Experience” can mean you have lived or worked there or are currently living or working there; you’re familiar with the culture and language; etc.) I was born in Northern Nigeria, West Africa. But I have also lived and studied at Stellenbosch, Cape Town, Republic of South Africa between 2018 and 2019. Many of my transits between Nigeria and South Africa were punctuated by spending at least 12 hours in Addis Ababa.
What Wikimedia project(s) do you actively edit? And in what language(s)? Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wiktionary, and Wiki Commons.
What affiliate(s) are you actively involved with? In what capacity are you involved? Do you serve in a leadership role or have you in the past? I belong to the Tyap Wikimedians User Group. As served as the Vice Chair of the Affiliate.
Have you served on any committees (movement-related or otherwise)? And what was your role on the committee(s)? I have not served any such committees.
Please describe any experience you have with conflict resolution and/or consensus building. One of our pioneering leaders of the Tyap Wikimedians User Group became unscrupulous in his dealings with our finances. I initiated the proceedings to the extent that he had to resign his position. We had to replace him. At the end, the leadership of our affiliate accepted my recommendations.
In your ideal world, what does the affiliate model and ecosystem look like? The affiliate models volunteerism, fairness, inclusivity, transparency, and healthy interpersonal relationship.
In your ideal world, what are AffCom’s roles and responsibilities in relation to the movement and affiliates? Determining and granting approvals to communities turning into affiliates is a key role. Beside, such a community should develop rules that should guide affiliates, especially leaders on how to raise funds, apply for grants, and how to judiciously expend funds in their custody to ensure accountability at the end of every project.
What role within AffCom are you most interested in: advisory or voting member? Voting member.
