Affiliations Committee/Resolutions/2024/Adopting Affiliate Health Criteria
Whereas, the Affiliations Committee (AffCom) is charged in its charter with “promoting community health and growth”, including by “monitoring affiliates' continued compliance with affiliate rules and criteria” and by “provid[ing] support to affiliates as they attempt to grow in membership, build programs to further the Wikimedia mission, and improve their governance practices”; and
Whereas, the 2023 Affiliate Strategy (Recognition) uncovered a number of insights from affiliates, other community members, AffCom members, and Foundation staff; and
Whereas, AffCom wishes to provide additional guidance to affiliates regarding what it means to be an active and healthy Wikimedia organization;
Now, therefore, it is:
RESOLVED, that AffCom adopts the following affiliate health criteria:
- Affiliate health & resilience
- Diversity balance (especially gender)
- Good governance and communication
- Diverse, skilled, and accountable leadership
- Community connection
- Internal (membership) engagement
- Goal delivery
- Financially and legally compliant (where applicable)
- Universal Code of Conduct compliance
- Partnerships and collaboration
AffCom will elaborate on these criteria further in published documentation, which it may update from time to time.
