Affiliations Committee/Resolutions/2024/Approving Updated User Group Recognition Process
Whereas, the Affiliations Committee (AffCom) is charged in its charter with “establishing recognition criteria and processes for different models of affiliation”;
Whereas, the 2023 Affiliate Strategy (Recognition) recommended some changes to the affiliate recognition process; and
Whereas, AffCom wishes to strengthen its processes around evaluating potential user groups’ furtherance of shared movement goals, sustainability, and general ability to be healthy and active movement participants;
Now, therefore, it is:
RESOLVED, that AffCom adopts the revised process for user group recognition, set forth below; and
RESOLVED, that the key revisions to the user group recognition process are:
- the addition of a live interview with AffCom,
- the requirement that user group applicants publish a public letter of intent to affected projects and affiliates, and
- the creation of a one-year trial period for applicants to demonstrate their activities and effectiveness.
- FINAL COMMITTEE DECISION: Approved and effective from 08 June, 2024.
