Affiliations Committee/Resolutions/Renewal Wikimedians of Korea 2016
- Whereas:
- Recognizing Wikimedia User Groups is the responsibility of the Affiliations Committee;
- On July 17, 2015, Wikimedians of Korea was recognized as Wikimedia User Group by the Affiliations Committee for a term of 1 year that finished on July 17, 2016;
- The affiliation requirements for Wikimedia User Groups include annual renewal based on the annual activities report submitted by the group.
- The group held multiple meet-up and editathon events over the course of their first year including FANTasia Edit-a-thon for women users, with Seoul Museum of Art (September 2015), a community meetup with Lila Tretikov (October 2015), Participation in Wikipedia Asian Month and hosting of WikiConference Seoul 2015 (November 2015), A celebration for Wikipedia 15 (January 2016), and a meeting with staff of National Library of Korea which resulted in Category:Books from National Library of Korea (March 2016), wiki roundtables for experienced users (April and June 2016), and offline education meet-ups for new users (March, May, and July 2016). They also acquired 2 PEG grants to support their offline meetups.
- The current status and work performed by Wikimedians of Korea have been reviewed by the Affiliations Committee;
- They have fulfilled the minimum requirements to retain their status as a Wikimedia User Group;
- The Affiliations Committee has determined that the Wikimedia User Group satisfies the requirements for renewal of its status as an affiliate.
- Therefore be it
- resolved that the Wikimedia User Group status of Wikimedians of Korea is hereby renewed for an additional one-year term through July 17, 2017.
