Ange Dusabe was the organizer of the event and she explained about the project, Pacifique Gatete was the Moderator, Jack was the trainer of how to create account and create/edit or translate articles on Wikimedia platform. before the event we made a poster to let people know and we also used different social media platform like twitter, WhatsApp. the event hard a target to reach at 27 people but 19 attended.
  2. On 4th April 2023, we had another online informative session, the team organized it as it was being asked for by Many people who wanted to know more about the project, climate change and how to avoid making mistakes while editing on Wiki. Pacifique was the moderator, Jack the Trainer and Alice led an open conversation about climate change and how we can live in a way which don't harm environment. In the session, attendees asked themselves the number of the planet they would need to afford them comparing to the actions they do which harm the environment. we used social media to create awareness of the session, the attendees were most of the project participants and they tried to be active and share what they know about the climate change. the attendees appreciated the session saying that they learned a lot of things and asked for bring in experts next time for more interesting information.

This contest enriched my knowledge on environment conservation as I was conducting various researches to support my article creation... And as well I was blessed to be honored as an overall contributor in this campaign so this encouraged me to be an active contributor to various Wikimedia projects. And continue to spread the open free knowledge because the work we are doing by volunteering is being recognized.

Giselle TUYISHIME.

As a lead organizer of this campaign, I was grateful to have ladies enjoying to contribute on this campaign. And also regarding to capacity building sessions and knowledge acquired by participants on how to contribute quality information on Wikimedia projects especially Wikipedia, we believe that our participants will continue to contribute with quality contents and live a green life.

Alice MUKESHIMANA.

Even though I didn't get the chance to be recognized in top contributors, I am happy that the campaign had left me with adequate knowledge from different capacity building sessions we had like climate change, mitigation, and adaptation. and that will help me to foster my contributions towards the open free knowledge.

Goals and Outcomes

edit

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

The Overall Goal of the project was to write as many as possible articles and engage more writers both new and experienced one, yes we wrote many articles as intended and more new comers have joined the movement and get to understand about the climate change! The sessions we did was eye opening to the participants through we needed to engage more than we were managed to reach.

Please use the table below to report on the outcomes achieved, starting with the original targets you shared in your proposal for the microgrant.

Final project metrics
Proposed metrics Anticipated outcome Achieved outcome Explanations
more than 1000 edits on our Dashboard Informed Community 2038 These were the total of articles created under the project timeline
changed mindsets testimonies Reduced harmful human doings on the environment above 20 we received more than 20 oral feedbacks about how some of participants didn't know how what they do affects environment and that they decided to change
Healthy life and sustainable development

Learnings

edit

We learned that the climate change is a subject which many don't care about but a heavy one which requires our attention and reaction. We are proud of the project results in spite of different challenges and shortcomings we managed to do more than two thousands edits and we had interesting session which we think left Rwandan Community knowledge or basic Information on Climate change. The experience we had as a team was really amazing we learned while doing but mostly we learn to work and adoption skills when there is unseen/unforecasted changes also learned to listen to each and everyone to come up with tangible results. And if we had to it again, we would put much efforts in awareness avoid short notice sessions communication.
