Americalang/en
The Americalang Iniciative proposes to join local chapters and other working groups which seek to establish a thematic organization for the benefit of the various ethnic peoples of North and South America, encouraging the collaboration and exchange of ideas, information and strategies to encourage the participation of indigenous and other minority peoples. The idea is to use the tools of the 21st century but under the expectations and perspectives of these same peoples. This idea has emerged as a space for those who are native speakers of Amerindian languages and minority languages of the Americas. To date, we have not been able to form a collaboration among the various groups that already exist to share objectives, means of organizing and concrete ideas concerning lingusitic, cultural and ethnic materials.
The main purpose of Americalang is for diverse communities, activists and native speakers of indigenous American languages in other chapters and workgroups, as well as those working in the promotion of topics related to minority languages or languages excluded from everyday life in the countries of the Americas.
We invite you to read here the official proposal about this initiative for Native American languages. It is important to mention that Americalang is in in no way a "supra-group" or any other structure linked, rather a framework for cooperation that looks to integrate distinct communities and cultural groups to enrich the communities of the Americas, which have been marginalized by dominant groups.
