- Coming to Mumbai after 5 years, where I have started my career was an awesome experience. The logistics and accommodation support were excellent. Getting to know people in real away from their virtual names was awesome. Got to learn many things and share my learnings with communities. Overall it was a good experience.
- In a scale of 1–5 (where 1 means the lowest and 5 means the highest), would you join a similar training programme in future and why? (write in details, please)
- A: 3.5
- I will join the ones which will have more focus on the workshops and training activities on my interest areas.
- Please explain in details what went well during the training programme?(write in details, please)
- A:
- The organizing team has done a good job. Kudos to them. Logistics, accommodation, food, transport all were good. Special extra points for the place.
- The cultural and outing activities are good ideas. Whoever proposed those activities be included, respect for them.
- Whoever has proposed not to give any assignments before the participants arrive at the sessions. Kudos to them :D
- Discussions among participants were good. Good to know the viewpoints of other community members.
- Got many things to learn and many sweet memories. Thanks, team.
- Please explain in details what would you have liked to be different and why? (how could we improve the training programme, write in details, please)
- A:
- Though a rough agenda has been there on the page, I thought in TTT there will be more technical sessions on different projects of Wikimedia. As the name of the program suggests before the program I have thought myself as a receiver and I hoped to be on the opposite side of the room by learning so much technical knowledge that I can be a Trainer myself and can give training to my community members.
- However, either there was a serious lack of skills among the trainers or they have not been given enough time to train us. We just get 20mins on Wikidata or Copyright tools. If I were an organizer, I would have given an entire day parallel sessions on these activities. The trainees who are interested can join the session which they like.
- How do you plan to use and share your learning in the near future?
- A:
- When at the session, I thought I learnt many things and written a report on my community discussion page as well. My community members liked the report as well. However, am I a trainer? Can I assemble a few students and give them a session in a single topic for the whole day which I learnt. The answer is No. Again, I have to do preparation myself to reach the Trainer level. Having said that I have learnt many things here which enabled/ignited me to go and explore further and be myself a trainer on the topic I like. As I stay in Bengaluru away from my local community, I am planning to share the knowledge I gained here with extra efforts from me to my community members in the next meetup.
- Do you have anything to share?
- A:
- The program needs more skilled trainers either from India or from outside. It looks like less TTT and gives more emphasis as an India Wiki meetup, where participants learn from each other on what is happening on other communities and apply the same (or equivalent) in their communities.
- There are many changes over the years on India and other Wikimedia communities. For e.g. The participants who have attended the session back in 2013 may find things different and can learn in 2021. Therefore, we should rethink once in lifetime participation policy in TTT as a participant.
- I strongly recommend to have parallel sessions with recording available for later reference, there were many participants who wanted to share their learnings to a broader audience as well
- Please post the videos/photos into Commons ASAP :)
- As others already posted, the participants' selection process should be more transparent
- The agenda should come up even before the participants start applying.
Note: These are solely my personal views. These are neither the representation of other participants nor my community.--Soumendrak (talk) 04:46, 18 March 2020 (UTC)
