editThis workshop was organized as part of the CIS-A2K MoU with TISS. This is also part of the Indian Language Mela being organized by Centre for Indian Languages in Higher Education, TISS.
The workshop was meant as an interactive session for the students for diverse linguistic backgrounds of the Tata Institute of Social SciencesTata Institute of Social Sciences, Hyderabad. It had two sessions:
- Introductory Session: Here the participants were introduced Wikipedia and its unique nature as an editable online encyclopedia.
- Hands-on Session: Here the participants had a hands on practice about:
- Editing features of Wikipedia.
- Wikimedia syntax.
- Quality articles.
- New article creation.
- Wikipedia's transliteration tools for Indian languages.
A total of 18 participants came over for the weekend workshop. Seven participants had Malayalam as their native language. Five people had Telugu as their mother tongue. Four participants were Maharashtrians, and the remaining two were Kannadigas.
