Women's History Month events in Maharashtra
editCIS-A2K facilitated a three-hour online event on the occasion of women's day (8 March 2021) in collaboration with Lek Ladki Abhiyan for women activists across the state. A total of 66 women participated in the programme. A documentation project on bridging gender gap in entrepreneurship has been started. As an output seven videos were created on the theme "Women at work" in different sectors. While another group of participants from Jnana Prabodhini's Sanwadini group worked on Lingua Libre, Audiobooks and Lexemes. As a continuation, two-hour online meeting was held on 9 March 2021 for experience sharing and brainstorming on future plans. read more...
Re-licensing books on women's issues
editCIS-A2K appealed to women writers & their heirs to release women related literature during Women's history month. The OTRS process was explained to the copyright holder and son of author late Shaila Lohiya relicensed 11 books which are currently being scanned. These will be uploaded soon on Wikimedia Commons. These books cover a wide range of issues related to woman. read more...
Online session with a technical group on Lexeme project
editCIS-A2K conducted an Online session with the technical group on the Lexeme project on 14 March 2021 with the partner organisation, Jnana Prabodhini. This group is involved in recordings on Lingua Libre, recording of Wikisource audiobooks and preparing lexeme datasets. The work is in progress for the last 3 months, everything online. After the session with Mahir Morshed and Bodhisattwa, a separate group of technical persons/software experts was formed to support the future course of action. Online session on Wikisource Audio books
editJnana Prabodhini & CIS-A2K mobilised a group of women from four different places interested in recording books. The recording of 5 books is in progress. These women members are introduced to Wikimedia projects in the first session. This session was conducted with Modern Bhatt from the Gujarati community. He shared experiences on various aspects of recording, processing and upload. Around 24 members attended this two-hour session. Wikimedia Wikimeet India 2021 Feedback
editCIS-A2K conducted Wikimedia Wikimeet India in February. Currently, we have started to collect feedback from all the participants and speakers. We have decided to take two kinds of feedback such as written feedback through Google form and audio-video feedback. To his feedback will help us to understand the pros and cons of the event, do the corrections accordingly in the upcoming events. We have received some of the feedbacks which can be seen here.
WikiGap-Wiki4Womxn 2021 (India)
editOn the occasion of International Women’s Day 2021, the Consulate of Sweden, Mumbai and UNESCO, New Delhi with the help of CIS-A2K had organised Wikigap-Wiki4women edit-a-thon. This event was aimed at promoting better representation of women in the digital sphere through the development of women profiles on Wikipedia. 59 people took part and created 87 articles read more...
Online session on Wikimedia commons with Sammilan Shetty
editCIS-A2K had a series of meetings with Sammilan Shetty. He is one of the best photographers in Dakshina Kannada and he has established a butterfly park named Sammilan Shetty butterfly park. This butterfly park has around 118 species of butterflies. During these conversations, we discussed how the butterfly images with them can be used on Wikipedia and its sister projects. After few days of the meeting, they started uploading the images on Wikimedia commons images can be seen here. These images have added value to the articles on Wikipedia.
Online Meeting with Punjabi Wikimedians - 28 March 2021
editCIS-A2K conducted an online meeting with the Punjabi community on 28 March 2021, where 6 community members took part. Content Creation on Eastern Punjabi Wikipedia
editThe final report of a short study on the nature of content creation related to Punjab on Eastern Punjabi Wikipedia was published. The objective of this study was to understand the kind of content presently available on Eastern Punjabi Wikipedia, efforts in content creation and its challenges and opportunities, and observations and potential strategies to address the same. The report has been authored by Satpal Singh with editorial oversight and support by Puthiya Purayil Sneha, and external review by Sumandro Chattapadhyay.
