Climate
editHong Kong has an oceanic and subtropical monsoon climate. Summers are hot and humid, with occasional showers and thunderstorms that usually happen in the morning. Average temperatures in the afternoon temperatures exceed 31°C, whilst in the evening, temperatures return to about 26°C.
August is the month of the year with the heaviest rainfall. On average there is rain 4 days a week, with monthly rainfall averaging to 391.4 mm. August is also the month when typhoons are most active. As 2006 will be a La Niña year, typhoons are expected to be very active.

edit- Hong Kong boasts a developed and extensive public transport network. Typical journeys within the city by MTR, its underground railway system, are less than 30 minutes. Other means of public transport include buses, taxis, ferries, trams, and the Peak Tram.
- The Chinese University of Hong Kong is situated in the suburban areas of Hong Kong, served by KCR East Rail's University Station. Journeys to/from the city take approximately 20 minutes.

editThe crime rate in Hong Kong is among the lowest in the world. There is no indication that Hong Kong is a target for terrorist activites.
Emergencies
editIn case of emergency, 999 can be dialled for help. The Hong Kong Police's Performance Pledge endeavours that the police will arrive at the scene in 9 minutes in Kowloon and Hong Kong Island; and in 15 minutes in New Territories. Ambulances will arrive in 12 minutes.

editIn Hong Kong, there are 43 public hospitals / medical institutions [1], 45 specialist out-patient clinics and 74 general out-patient clinics. For non-holders of Hong Kong permanant identity cards and children under 11 years of age with Hong Kong resident status, accident & emergency services are HK$570 per attendance, and general out-patient services are HK$215 per attendance.
Private Sector
editAs of late 2004, there are 12 private hospitals and 170 private clinics in Hong Kong. Fees and charges vary from about HK$100 to several hundred dollars for a general out-patient service.
