Problem: WikiHiero is an extension which handles the rendering of hieroglyphs. It could be improved in several ways, by order of priority:
Enable the use of WikiHiero inline (currently it displays as a block, triggering line breaks before and after the hieroglyphs).
Replace old rough PNG images by new neat images, either in PNG or (what would be better for future development) in SVG. The new images can consist in the glyphs of a free font (like Noto Sans).
Enable more formatting : especially "font-size".
Fix some mismatches between WikiHiero and Unicode/Manuel de Codage.
Proposed solution:
Who would benefit: Editors and readers of articles and books on Ancient Egypt.
Support This is also used on Commons in the Wikidata infobox, and the display is awkward and difficult to refine, likely because it's a block rather than inline. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 18:23, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
