Developer Liaison

(Redirected from Developer liaison)

The official position of Developer Liaison involves being the first point of contact between the developers and the Board, and is intended to improve communication, both within the development team, and between them, the Board and the community. It is not meant to imply that the person who is appointed to this position does, or is expected to do, more development work than anyone else.

Tim Starling was appointed to this position by the Wikimedia Board in July 2004. He resigned in the early February 2005 to concentrate on his studies. The position was later offered to JeLuF who turned it down. As of June, 2005 no one holds this position.

The creation of a developer committee was previously encouraged, but whilst this does exist in an informal sense, the nature of a formal committee has not been successful in this area.
