4.30 to 5.45 pm Introduction to Wikipedia:
  • Key features of an entry
  • Demonstration + Basics of editing (hands-on activity)
  • Indian Language Wikipedias
5.45 to 6.30 pm Exercise 3: Translation challenges on Wikipedia

About the workshop

In this two-day workshop, CILHE and CIS-A2K will work with students of the Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences (BASS) course at TISS, Tuljapur Campus. The participants will engage in exercises that will enable them to them about concepts in an encylopedic manner. The major activity in this workshop will be the generation of content relevant to the social sciences, speciafically rural development and livelihood on the Indian Language (IL) Wikipedias. The participants will be taught the basics of Wikipedia editing and will become active as knowledge producers in the digital domain.

As a proposed outcome of the workshop, we aim to:

  • Facilitate students to think critically about concepts and their associations
  • Involve students as active editors on the IL Wikipedias
  • Strengthen social sciences content on the IL Wikipedias
