Things learned at the conference

edit
  • Wikimedia communities across the region are facing similar challenges.
  • I learned about the Mix'n'Match set!!!! [1]. Thanks to User:99of9.
  • Possible partnership opportunities with NGOs in Thailand. Thanks to User:SPramudya (WMF).

Things the participant contributed or participated in the conference

edit
  • I delivered a lighting talk on the topic "Wikipedia page views as a potential metric in medical curriculum development", which is an about research project that I am conducting. Briefly, I found out that Wikipedia page views are good indicators of content significance when compared with experts ratings of core concepts in human anatomy. In the immediate future, our research will be expanded to cover multiple subfields in medicine. By analyzing how the content on Wikipedia is used, our results reiterate the significance of Wikipedia in medical curriculum and the indirect impact it poses on global healthcare.
  • As an organizing team member of Wikimania Singapore, I participated in the Wikimania discussion. With the help of the ESEAP delegates, were were able to conclude on the final theme of Wikimania 2023.

Plans after the conference (from what was learned or contributed in the conference)

edit
  • I plan to submit the General Support Fund application for Wikimedia Thailand, and also apply for Wikimedia Research Fund
  • I also look forward to attending Wikimania 2023 in Singapore!
  • Reach out to several NGOs in Thailand for potential collaborations.

Comments/ suggestions about the conference

edit
  • I really appreciate all the effort that was put together to make this event a success, especially the core organizing team and Wikimedia Australia.
  • This year's conference is too lecture oriented in my humble opinion. More involvement or engagement from participants during the sessions is needed.
