What is ESEAP?

ESEAP, or East, Southeast Asia and the Pacific Regional Cooperation, is a regional collaborative composed of nationalities & Wikimedia affiliates of Indonesia, Taiwan, Australia, Korea, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, and Vietnam. Membership also include nationalities and informal communities of Brunei, Cambodia, Japan, Laos, Macau, Mongolia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, and Timor Leste (East Timor).

The Movement Strategy Process “Wikimedia 2030” brings together members of the Wikimedia movement to define how to best advance in the strategic direction. To do this, the Movement Strategy team are assessing where the movement currently stands and where challenges may lie so that we can identify and seize opportunities that support our strategic direction and develop recommendations for change within the movement‘s structures. As part of this, discussions and analysis will take place on a global level to develop a plan for change that:

is built on sustainability, inclusivity, and diversity
ensures the movement makes the most of all potential opportunities
pinpoints existing and possible challenges and best practices to overcome these
identifies the tools, methods, resources, and structural changes that are needed in order to ensure effective implementation of recommended changes

What is the ESEAP Strategy Summit 2019?

Wikimedia ESEAP Strategy Summit 2019 is a focused event that brings together community members of Wikimedia affiliates in the ESEAP region to the global conversation on Movement Strategy. For more information about Strategy Salons, refer to this link.

Will my participation be fully funded?

All selected participants will be provided travel and accommodation during the days of the Summit (28-30 June 2019). Deviation of the days of the Summit will not be funded by the organizing team.

Do I need a visa to go to Thailand?

Citizens of countries in the ESEAP Region, except East Timor, most probably do not need a visa to enter Thailand. See Visa policy of Thailand.
