ESEAP Strategy Summit 2025/Program

Overview

The ESEAP Strategy Summit is a three-day workshop for Wikimedians in the ESEAP region to discuss topics related to the Movement Strategy and the ESEAP Hub.

The ESEAP Strategy Summit does not have program submissions, unlike the related biennial ESEAP Conference. Instead, discussion topics and work will be focused on general objectives, namely the discussion of the ESEAP region, the ESEAP Hub, Movement Strategy, the Theory of Change, and others. The program was developed by the ESEAP Preparatory Council in collaboration with the Summit's Programme team. A facilitator will assist attendees in ensuring maximal participation between everyone involved.

Objectives

The general objectives of the summit is as follows:

  • Provide an avenue for follow-up and status review of the current ESEAP Region's strategic direction based on the previous Summits' conversations.
  • Create open and engaging community discussions and nurture future cross-cultural collaborations among countries in the ESEAP Region.
  • Become a venue for community members to have a conversation with some of the members of Movement Strategy Working Groups so they could guide participants on matters or concerns that surfaced in their working group conversations in general and scoping documents in particular. This includes but is not limited to, providing clarifications, giving sample future scenarios, and sharing their work experience in their designated working groups.
  • Develop a support structure for Wikimedia communities and volunteers in terms of organizing, volunteer engagement, and technical challenges.

Pre-Summit meetings

There will be two online meetings held before the Strategy Summit in Manila. These meetings will help shape the discussions to be held at the Summit, while also enabling participation from the greater community. Attendees are highly encouraged to join the online meetings, as these will be used as a venue to provide explanations and gather opinions.

  • The first meeting will be held on April 27, and will be used to discuss the governance systems proposed by the ESEAP Preparatory Council. You can find more details and register for the meeting on its event page.
  • The exact date for the second meeting is still to be decided, but it will be held around two weeks before the Summit.
