EduWiki Nigeria Mother Tongue Day 2024 is an annual activity recognized by the United Nations to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and to raise awareness of the importance of preserving and promoting mother languages in Nigeria.

Activities

Incorporating this into classroom activities by asking students to search for subjects or topics being taught in their local languages on Wikimedia projects.
Organize language-related on-wiki training focusing on indigenous languages spoken in Nigeria.
Facilitate educational programs highlighting the significance of preserving and promoting mother languages in Nigerian culture on Wikimedia project.
take photos and videos of cultural performances showcasing songs, dances, and storytelling in various Nigerian languages for upload on wikimedia commons.
Take pictures of exhibitions featuring literature, art, and artifacts representing the linguistic diversity of Nigeria for upload on Wikimedia commons.
Engage students in projects that involve translating articles or content on Wikimedia platforms into Nigerian languages.
Raise awareness about International Mother Tongue Day using our social media campaigns.
