We are pleased to share the outcomes of the 2023 “Wikipedia for School” contest in Ukraine, where participants created or significantly improved 245 articles on school curriculum topics across 11 subjects. This month's highlight is the experiences of Brazilian educators with educational projects on Wikimedia platforms. The magazine Pesquisa FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation) featured an article in its July 2024 issue that emphasizes the significant impact of pedagogical projects carried out with Wikimedia platforms. Between July and August of this year, the face-to-face sessions of the teacher training program Leamos Wikipedia en el Aula were held with 32 teachers from different schools and educational levels of Cochabamba District 1, in the municipality of Cochabamba. Read more…

The 7th Edu Wiki Camp took place in Banja Koviljača, Serbia, from July 22nd to July 25th. As every year, the participants had the opportunity to learn new and interesting information about Wikimedia Serbia, acquire new skills that could help them selflessly spread knowledge to others, which is the ultimate goal of Wikimedia. At Wikimania 2024, I contributed to developing a new tool to help trainees detect copied text from the internet, enhancing copyright protection. This month, we are featuring Wikeys, an educational board game designed to introduce Wikipedia in a fun and collaborative way. Developed by Wikimedia France, the game simulates the construction of a Wikipedia article, encouraging players to work together to create the best possible content. Wiki Movimento Brasil (WMB) translated the material and is now seeking to customize it for the Brazilian reality. They aim to promote workshops and ongoing testing to adjust the game to local needs.
