Event Description
editThis is an event page for the GOIF International Women's Day Contest in Ghana for March 2024. Generally, documenting of notable Women in the Ghanaian society is essential in creating a more inclusive, equitable, and accurate portrayal of women in history and contemporary society. This March, GOIF focuses on the documentation of notable Ghanaian women. These include women in Politics, Traditional rulers, Civil servants, Showbiz, Environmentalists, Entrepreneurs and Athletes. These women are making good progress in the country despite challenges that limit their progress. The reachability and visibility on women is limited on Wikipedia (See more on: Gender bias on Wikipedia). Ignoring the contribution of women leads to an incomplete and inaccurate understanding of history. Thus, the contribution to articles on women with positive impact on society ensures a more comprehensive and truthful representation of the past and present.
