Wiki Loves Africa is organizing a training for its participants to guide them on how to make video submissions for the photography contest.

This training will focus on the basics of uploading on Wikimedia Commons and will consist of a demo upload. Participants are advised to have a computing device handy to aid participation.

Hilary is a member of the Igbo Wikimedians User Group and the former community lead for IG Wiki Commons Hub and first prize winner - WLA 2023 in the Igbo community, he is known in the Igbo community for his experience on Wikimedia Commons and he has led so many trainings and office hours within the community to train Igbo community members on Wikimedia Commons and how to contribute to Wikimedia Commons.

The focus of the training session will be to demonstrate the necessary steps required to successfully upload videos to Wikimedia Commons for the Wiki Loves Africa 2024 photography contest.

Participants will learn

  1. Video formats supported by Wikimedia Commons,
  2. How to convert video files to the supported format, and
  3. The step-by-step processes of uploading video files to Wikimedia Commons.
