As part of Maryana Ikander's listening tour, Wikitongues has organized a roundtable discussion about language diversity across Wiki projects.

This event is open (anyone can attend) and will be moderated by Daniel from Wikitongues.

Introductions (20 minutes)

Each attendee will have an opportunity to introduce themselves by briefly answering the following questions:

  • Who are you? (Your name, your language, and your title, if relevant)
  • Where are you?
  • How do you use your language in Wiki projects?

Open Discussion (40 minutes)

After introductions, we'll move to an open discussion about how we use our languages across the spectrum of Wiki projects: what works well, what could be better, and where our communities could be better supported. We'll use the following questions as a guide:

  • What have been your challenges in contributing content in your languages and what support do your and your community members need?
  • Why is linguistic diversity important in capturing the sum of all human knowledge?
  • What motivates you to contribute to Wikimedia projects?
  • What is something cool you are working on or have worked on in the past year?

Event Recording Policy

  • With everyone's consent, we will record the event.
  • Participants who consent to audio recording but don't want their faces recorded are welcome to turn off their cameras.
  • If requested, we will have a brief session at the end that isn't recorded, to leave space for more open conversation.
