| Description |
Deutsch: Der Salzbodensee liegt zwischen Moränenwällen, die einen einstigen Abfluss verschließen. Heute fließt der See in ein seichtes Torfmoor ab. Gespeist wird er von unterirdischen Grundquellen. 2012 wurde ein Stück eines Lärchenstammes geborgen, das auf 7.637 bis 7.283 Jahre v. Chr. datiert werden konnte und (neben anderen Funden) belegt, dass der Salzboden vor über 9.000 Jahren mit Lärchen und Zirben bewaldet war. Der See erreicht auch an warmen Sommertagen selten mehr als 10° C.
