DescriptionOpenData vs OpenAPI discussion in ODD2020 Brygga, Oodi, Helsinki 2020-03-07 3.jpg
English: description of the discussion: "The concept of API vs. Data and further Open API vs. Open Data are sometimes confusing. That’s why there was a definition done in 2014 from public sectors point of view. It’s now in need of an update due to need for making it more compatible for both companies and public sector but also because it needs to be internationally in sync with the historically separate concept of Open API and levels of openness in open data or open source systems licensing. OKFI together with COSS, Center for Open Source Systems and the federation of Technology Industries in Finland has set up a working group for the update on the definition. There has been lively discussion on this topic in social media and there is a need to open these concepts and the context to a wider audience. Members of the working group Marjukka Niinioja (COSS), Mika Honkanen (OKFI) and Antti “Jogi” Poikola (Technology Industries in Finland) will introduce the subject and guide the conversation."
