Demonstrating what you have learned is useful for many purposes. For example, a Wikimedia trainer can prep up their knowledge of open licenses and have a certificate acknowledging that. Different kinds of contributors lack different knowledge in their skillsets. The need may be technical, or for example understanding of the workflows of a GLAM environment.
