3rd annual spring cleanup contest

Content improvement by solving flagged problems.

What are the objectives of this program? Please include metrics.
  • Gain new editors for Wikipedia.
  • Expand overall content.
  • Improve overall content.
Progress against these objectives (include metrics and # of volunteers/staff involved)?
  • Low overall (both internal and external) advertising.
  • One volunteer did everything.
Activities conducted.
  • A page was created in the Wikipedia namespace for the event. [1]
  • Participants self nominated their edits in a table, naming the article, the issue(s) solved, the points they got for it, and the before/after diff of the changes they did.
  • Award ceremony was held on June 2, combined with a wikimeetup.
What worked and what did not?
  • A total of 29 editors nominated themselves; no new editors
  • 1223, or ~0.5% of the articles were affected, got their content improved
  • The total number of issues solved in the 1223 articles affected numbers well above 3.000. [2]


Statistical article writing competition

Cooperation with the Hungarian Central Statistical Office and its Library in a joint article writing contest about statistical sciences

What are the objectives of this program? Please include metrics.
  • The competition aims to provide high quality, professional or educational articles in accordance with the rules of Wikipedia.
  • The topics were:
    • economic and environmental statistics;
    • demographics, domestic and foreign censuses;
    • social statistics;
    • regional and spatial statistics.
Progress against these objectives (include metrics and # of volunteers/staff involved)?
  • Too tight topics (sociology, economy and other sciences related heavily to statistics were banned upon the request of the Statistical Office).
  • Low overall interest in statistical sciences (both in general and on huwiki).
Activities conducted.
  • Organized by one volunteer.
What worked and what did not?
  • 37 new, 9 "renovated" articles.
  • Topics should be broadened (if repeated, should not exclude sociology and other sciences that are heavily related to statistics).

  • The board made decisons about the following topics:

members to be sent to the GLAM Wiki Conference, Wikimania in Hongkong;

  • Official seat; wikicamp; new members.
What worked and what did not?
  • We were waiting to see more results.

What are the objectives of this program?
  • The 9 participants discussed about the current issues. Ideas were made by the office equipment and operation. The practical program was the set up of the printer.
  • Involve, create community.
  • Increase the number of volunteers in our projects and foster their participation, making them more active in the community giving a place where they can meet personally.

  • It is difficult to move the people out. We need to create more attractive programs.

  • Our aim for the next assembly to achieve higher member participation.

What are the objectives of this program?
  • The top 15 ranked editors in order could choose between 2013 wikicamp attendance, Wikipedia sweaters, Shop vouchers, and other gift items.
  • Create community.

  • Only with 20 participants. Maybe we could involve more people with a more funny program. Only one volunteer organized it with the help of the office manager.
Activities conducted.
  • Meetup was held with some programmatic activity.
What worked and what did not?
  • Next time we need to organize better.

  • 5 participants involved.
  • meetup was held with presentations.
What worked and what did not?
  • There could come more participants. Next time we need to do bigger pubblicity of this kind of events.
  • Good usability of the office.

  • The aim is to support spontaneous local meetups.
  • Increase the number of the quality articles on Wikipedia.
  • Encourage the editors to meet each other personally and work together.

  • 4 volunteers, new articles and the plant workshop on Hungarian Wikipedia is still very active
Activities conducted.
  • Meetup was held, they spent five hours to editing, discussing and they enjoyed it.
What worked and what did not?
  • The participants were complaining about the missing fridge what since than we purchased one.

What are the objectives of this program?
  • A better understanding of how to increase impact through better planning, execution and evaluation of programs and activities will help to move a step closer to achieving the mission of offering a free, high quality encyclopedia to the readers around the world.

  • Visa problems, other organizational mistakes (e.g. participants' dietary restrictions were not discussed with the hotel)
Activities conducted.
  • The worshop was held with a big succes.
What worked and what did not?
  • The Hungarian Chapter's role was helping the organizators with prenoting restaurants, buying things, etc. I think we did our best. :)

12 students of linguist studies received a theoretical and practical wiki presentation in a corpus linguistics lesson.
