What is the problem you're trying to solve?

edit

Language is the main mean we use to communicate our information. Language is really important for Wikipedia. And Wikipedia has becomen a huge information source which even Hardvard teachers use for their classes. And yet language keeps being sexist in a positive way for males. I know this is not an original idea. But since Wikipedia is a good tool for teaching and learning, we could begin to change language inside the articles favouring females.

What is your solution?

edit

To make Wikipedia more equal by changing at least the 50% of the articles in which we use "he" but we could use "she" also.

  • Endorse. This is already part of the Manual of Style on English Wikipedia. I'd like to know what other language wikis do (could we get some information on that added to this page?) So I guess what I'm seeing here is an editing drive of some sort to fix pages that don't conform to the MoS, and I support that, but I'd like to see some more concrete details about how it would happen. -- Skud (WMF) (talk) 00:53, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
  • I'd like to see efforts towards this too, and recent research indicates that it is needed. Even if we have a proportionate number of women editing, or proportional content about women, if we are still using gendered language unequally then we are not maintaining neutrality. • Endorse. Great idea, I wish we could go over and change some of the wordings used. Moreover, this can be great example for other projects and wikis in other languages. Mooeypoo (talk) 00:27, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
