Project idea

What is the problem you're trying to solve?

Improve editor attraction and retention by asking editors to optionally report their attitude towards their emotional states using positive, neutral, and negative face icons. I am trying to understand why the MoodBar helped retain editors, and to propose an alternative implementing just the essential parts of that function, with summary statistics protecting individual privacy but showing trends over time on a per-article basis.

What is your solution?

I would like to see article editing tested with and without various labels like "I am feeling _____ generally," "I am feeling _____ about saving this edit," and "I am feeling _____ about the subject matter I am editing." Other questions might involve the subject's opinion of their familiarity with the topic area, the article, or of other editors. For example:

Goals

Perform a usability experiment such as with the MoodBar. Measure the difference and try to get more than 216 expected additional editors per year on the English Wikipedia.
