What problem does this solve?
editEducators, program leaders and ambassadors may want to monitor student contributions during an education program to check for errors, plagarism and progress on assignments. Checking user contributions one edit at a time can be tedious and time consuming.
What is the solution?
editUse tools to monitor user contributions in an efficient way.
- Teachers, program leaders or ambassadors can monitor student work using the activity feed feature in Education extension.
- If you use course pages without the education extension learn how to use watchlists.
- If you have limited support from ambassadors or community members, you can try tagging articles for community review.
- Install a userscript on student user pages or articles to review edits more quickly.
- WikiScan: This tool, which is in French, collects detailed statistics on users' contributions in terms of number of changes, size of added content, time spent contributing, etc.
Things to consider
edit- Whoever is monitoring student work should remove plagarism if they see it, and be prepared to join discussions on talk pages if needed.[1]
- Educators, program leaders and ambassadors do not need to correct every single mistake or problem they find in student contributions. Content on Wikimedia projects is always evolving, and minor errors and mistakes will be corrected at some point.
