Goals and measures of success

edit- To commemorate 10 years of Telugu Wikipedia and to strengthen Telugu Wikipedia community and its outreach efforts.
Measures of success
edit- to take the active contributors count from 71 to 300 and to maintain it around 300 or above consistently (since December 2013 we have initiated various outreach programs in collaboration with CIS-A2K, which has already taken this to above 200);
- 500 important articles that should be present in each Wikipedia are expanded from their current stub form.
- To improve stub village articles of three districts around Vijayawada (event location).

- The following events are planned as part of celebrations
- 2 day event on 15th & 16th February 2014
A 2 day event is planned at KBN college, Vijayawada. the event would be a get together of all Telugu wikipedians available. Ten wikipedians have been recognised by a selection committee, who would be awarded with an award and recognition. A series of wiki training sessions have been organised and are planned to be organised both pre and post events. In addition to this various quality improvement activities on-wiki will also be done by the Telugu Wiki community. More details can be seen here.

editWe have successfully conducted two events before:
- The 2013 Telugu Wikipedia Ugadi Mahotsavam during 2013.This was first such gathering of Telugu Wikipedians. This was organized on the occasion of Ugadi, new year of Telugu people.

Impact

edit- Participation and Community: This public celebration of the ten years of growth of Telgu Wikipedia will help us strengthen the community, review our progress and plan our future. The conference will help create a better environment for collaboration, particularly in resolving policy differences. This is very important considering the different cultural and historical backgrounds of Telugu speaking communities.
- Increase Reach: The meetup will provide an excellent outreach opportunity to popularize Telugu Wikimedia projects through the mainstream media, social media and direct outreach. The meetup will attract the general public, the academia, Telugu enthusiasts, professionals, journalists and well-wishers, raising awareness and drawing a considerable number of active contributors to Telugu Wikipedia.
- Quality Content: The essay contest and target 55555 will help us improve the quality of the most important articles that should be present in each Wikipedia.
- Credibility: Putting faces to names behinds the Telugu Wiki projects will add to the credibility of Wikimedia projects. Conference will also provide many opportunities for general public, press and active contributors to ask questions and seek clarifications regarding the inner workings of Telugu Wikimedia projects.

- These celebrations will specifically benefit Telugu Wikipedia and all Telugu Wikimedia projects in general. The handbook will help attract contributors for all Telugu Wikimedia projects. The two day Wiki meetup will help exchange of ideas and know how between contributors active in different Telugu Wikimedia projects. The pictures captured during the unconference trip will be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons that can be used by any Wikimedia project.
- Please provide a brief statement about how the project is related to other work in the Wikimedia movement. For example, does the project fit into a work area such as GLAM, education, organizational development, editor retention, or outreach?
- The ongoing target 55555 has prompted existing veteran editors to contribute more with specific focus. We are also seeing new contributors writing exclusively for the targetted count. Based on our past experience with organizing small meetups, we expect to see increased contributor activity and community bonding after the two day Wiki meetup. We are very active in organizing regular Wiki Training workshops and the new handbook will help us make our efforts more consistent.
- If successful, will the project have the potential to be replicated successfully by other individuals, groups, or organizations? Please explain how in 1–2 sentences.
- By organizing a self running contest, a hand guide that can be translated and a minimalistic international Wiki meetup, we hope to set a format that other small Wikipedias can follow. It will be a good example for most of the Indian and other language Wikipedias that will celebrate 10 years.
