We think so.

Activities

The grant did not involve specific activities. The residence included a diary and an end report that can be seen here (in Danish).

Project goal and measures of success

Project goal

"We will consider this project a success if we attract at least one applicant for a wikipedian-in-residence position, who is not a student and does not have alternate funding."

Measures of success

The National Museum decided to create a salaried position, so we do not know who applied, but the resident took time off from his ordinary job to be a resident.

Lessons learned

What lessons were learned that may help others succeed in similar projects?

It is our impression that being able to pay the resident was instrumental in getting the museum to find funds for a salary.

What impact did the project have on WMF mission goals of Increased Reach, Increased Quality, Increased Credibility, Increased and Diversified Participation?

The residence helped ~10 National Museum curators become editors, helped them create ~100 new articles, and most importantly: helped them understand some of the pitfalls of contributing to Wikipedia.

Reporting and documentation of expenditures

Did you send WMF documentation of all expenses paid for with grant funds?

Yes (nothing was paid).

No money was spent - WMDK still has the money.

Will you be requesting re-allocation of remaining grant funding?

We wouldn't mind keeping the money for future GLAM outreach.

Will you be returning unused funds to the Wikimedia Foundation?

If need be.

Additional requests and related proposals

Will you be requesting an extension or were you granted an extension?

If we can't just keep the money, we'd like an extension, so we can use it to fund future residences, or (better) to get the institutions to create salaried positions.
