Project classes are one of the idea introduced in Wikimedia Cipta as part of the activity to recruit and identify volunteers who is willing and able to run wiki project independently. This effort is an integrated effort under Wikimedia Cipta Jakarta, consist of Project Classes, Writing Classes, and Coordination Meetings.
In its effort to support the dissemination of knowledge, Wikimedia Indonesia identify that one of the main problem that we face is the lack of volunteer participation who's interested in doing it. Under the assumption that culturally, volunteering in Indonesia are in the area of poverty alleviation, environment, and disaster or other emergency response.
Although knowledge still considered important, but it didn't categorized as emergency where in general people who would like to have them (knowledge) are willing to pay get it.
Therefore access to information and knowledge which ideally, become an integrated part, end up become two separate things and stand on its own.
Wikimedia Indonesia try improve the situation by having an open call to volunteers who is interested and able in donating their time and effort in running a project with training and funding to do a wikimedia project - as an incentive.
Within training include: volunteer capacity building, budgeting, implementation, and project monitoring.
