Project goal

edit

The goal of this project is simple. Given that this is the first year, the stated goal is for the Chapter to attain financial and operational strength to undertake active outreach projects, targeted interventions and to support efforts of members and the community at large.

Non-financial requirements

edit
  • Support of in kind material requests for outreach activity.
  • Organisational support.

Fit to strategy

edit
  • India is one amongst a set of countries where the WMF has a strong strategic focus.
  • The Chapter needs to become financially and operationally strong to support the strategic focus on India.
  • Given that India is a focus area and that there is a WMF India Program office as well, a strong, supportive, engaged and functioning Chapter is an imperative.

Other benefits

edit
  • A strong Community and Chapter will be the most important elements to ensure a sustainable Wikimedia movement in India.
  • A strong Community owned Chapter will be a catalyst to grow editorship and readership within India.

Measures of success

edit
  • Given that this is the first year, measures of success should include growth of membership, outreach events, conducting the Wiki Conference and fulfilling basic statutory requirements.
  • A further measure, could be one of sentiment analysis to determine whether the Chapter is operating in a manner that its founding documents details and expectations therein.
  • Lastly, planning for the future, the Chapter should proactively begin the process of getting requisite permissions to receive money from foreign sources and to be able to give tax deduction statements locally.
