Fit with strategy
editWhat crucial thing will the project try to change or benefit in the Wikimedia movement? Please select the Wikimedia strategic priority(ies) that your project most directly aims to impact and explain how your project fits. Most projects fit all strategic priorities. However, we would like project managers to focus their efforts on impacting 1–2 strategic priorities. Examples of strategic priorities can be found here.
- Increasing Reach-We are confirmed to present at two conferences and have proposals in for two additional conferences. We will present talks on how Wikipedia and other Wikimedia Projects can be used in the classroom and how Wikimedia projects can be used for crowd-sourcing, using Wiki Loves Monuments as a case study. We will also reach out to other open source communities in Ireland to present talks at their meetings.
- Increasing Participation-We want to improve editor diversity by running events that will target female editors in an attempt to recruit more. There might also an opportunity to recruit more Irish speaking users to edit Vicipéid through our volunteer group at NUIG.
Measures of success
editPlease provide a list of both quantitative and qualitative criteria that will be used to determine how successful the project is. You will need to report on the success of the project according to these measures after the project is completed. See the PEG program resources for suggested measures of success.
- Run at least 6 events with a turnout of at least 200 people. This will include edit-a-thons and talks given by members of the group.
- Increase the volunteer base of the Wikimedia Community Ireland User Group by 5.
- Create or expand at least 15 articles on Women in Irish history. Have at least 5 of those articles featured in the Did You Know section.
- Create or expand at least 10 articles on Wikipedia:WikiProject_Medicine.
- Create and improve relationships with at least 3 GLAM organisations or Open Knowledge groups.
- Individual event goals listed next to each event.
Note: In addition to your project-specific measures of success, you will also be asked to report on some global metrics at the end of your final report. Please keep this in mind as you plan, and we'll support you as you begin your project.
