Activities and lessons learned
editThis section describes what the grantee did, and what the grantee learned from implementing the project. This section should be useful to others implementing similar projects and is an opportunity for the grantee to reflect on the project's performance.
Activities
edit- Provide a detailed list of activities performed to complete this project, descriptions of these activities, and the amount of time spent on each activity. This section should also include a list of participants, or a link to pictures, blog posts, or videos from the project or event.
- Wiki Loves Monuments 2013 in Slovakia brought 2 729 pictures to Commons (358% increase from 2012). They were taken by 76 photographers (262% increase from 2012). A big part of the project was the award ceremony. It took place on 25 January 2014 at Progressbar. Six of the ten winners and their family members and friends attended, 19 people in total. We presented Wiki Loves Monuments, Wikimedia SK and Wikimania. Pictures from the event be seen in this Commons Category. A blog post (in Slovak) can be read here.
Lessons learned
edit- What lessons were learned that may help others succeed in similar projects, or that may change the way you are doing this project?
-
- What went well, or is going well?
- Six winners attending was a good number. We answered a considerable number of questions about Wikimedia SK and its activities and received ideas in return.
- What did not go well, or is not going well?
- Communication with the state monument authority could be better. It had seemed possible to use their space for the ceremony, but it was not possible later. Unfortunatelly, none of the jury members could be present.
- From your answers above, do you plan to change anything you are doing as your project continues?
- For the following year, we should communicate better with the press to make sure the message is spread further. We need to ensure the attandance of jury members at the event by booking the time earlier. Having a bigger team would make things easier and more efficient. We have not been able to establish contact with four of the winners.
