Open knowledge policies and local copyright laws. Officiality of Catalan Language. Freedom of Panorama. Chat control. TERREC. Minorization of small languages in Google search results.

9.6.2. What are the main methods and tactics via which you plan to advocate for this public policy change? Please be as specific as possible. (required)

Our target is public cultural institutions and, as a second focus, private ones that work within the GLAM sector. We establish contact with them and run different online and in-person activities related to their focus. We also team up with their workers to release their online content to be used (Viquipèdia, Wikidata, Commons, and so on). We try to create awareness of the fair sharing of public heritage and the power of content disclosure for Wikimedia projects. We mentor the institutions as much as they need, providing trainers, facilitators, and the tech knowledge and or hardware they might require to accomplish their goals. We are also patrons of Fundació .cat, a Catalan Language alliance that promotes the Digital presence of the Catalan Language. Recently, we also have started providing surveillance and monitoring of the usage of the Catalan Language within digital environments. We understand our advocacy tasks as an integral part of the relationship with other partners.

9.6.3. Approximately, how much of the requested budget will you dedicate to public policy advocacy (local currency)?
0
10. Please include a link to or upload a timeline (operational calendar) for your programs and activities. (required)

11. Describe your team. (required)

The board comprises volunteers, and a community of volunteers also leads our programs. Hence, we are basically a volunteer-based association. A few volunteer groups with different local interests are part of the Amical Wikimedia movement, such as the Torre Barrina editors. They promote the creation of local content (L'Hospitalet de Llobregat) and multimedia content. They also produce a podcast program on Wikimedia Knowledge. A second group of volunteers is Viquidones UPF, a group of editors working with the Universitat Pompeu Fabra to raise awareness of gender bias content. They organize in-person edit-a-thon and help new editors in their online gatherings twice a month.

In addition to the volunteer community, we have a part-time contractor to whom we confide some of the administrative tasks, institutional relationships, and GLAM-oriented projects.

We want to strengthen our capacity to promote a more solid education program, so we are applying for a second team member. This position will focus on educational-related programs in secondary schools and universities.

Last, If we have two people, we could invest time and effort in local fundraising, which is one of our preoccupations, too.

12. Will you be working with any internal (Wikimedia) or external partners? Describe the characteristics of these partnerships and bring a few examples of the most significant partnerships. (required)

Our collaboration with other Wikimedia chapters, particularly the Basque Country editors, has been invaluable. Their extensive knowledge and experience in video creation and curating educational content have significantly influenced our methodologies. We are also actively involved in multilingual initiatives such as 100 Women of the BBC, where we have consistently been the first language to fulfill the goal. Additionally, we participate in other multilingual initiatives within the Iberian peninsula, promoting Catalan Language and culture outside the Catalan-speaking territories.

In this sense, maybe the biggest in-person event is la Viquimarató per la Llengua, the most significant event in our community and one of the biggest among the Wikimedian community. We promote in-person events within the Catalan-speaking territories and internationally for two weeks. The 2023 edition gathered more than 150 people from 11 different locations, including Portugal, Italy, France and Andorra, among others. This initiative runs with the collaboration of volunteers, local governments, the Catalan Language Institute network, and other local associations.

Another key event is our annual in-person Viquitrobada. Our community gather together for a full weekend. This will be our 17th edition. We have other in-person events as a way to take care of the health of our community.

Referring to other external partners, we team up with the main Catalan speaking universities (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Universitat Rovira Virgili, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, Universitat de Barcelona, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Universitat de Girona, ESMUC), and some of the main museums (Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona, among others) and archives.

Amical Wikimedia is member of Wikimedia Europe and participates in some of the in-person activities.

We are also working to establish new alliances within the Wikimedia community and with external partners. One of the 2025 challenges will be to keep up the good work with women-focused content by expanding our collaborations. The second important thing to us will be forging new alliances with LGBTIQA+ associations and diversity to establish regular programs to close these biases.

13. In what ways do you think your proposal most contributes to the Movement Strategy 2030 recommendations. Select all that apply. (required)
