台灣撒奇萊雅族是台灣原住民的第 13 族,該族的人數到目前為止仍只有 1059人次,是台灣即為少數的民族,該族的語言也被中華民國(Republic of China)原住民族委員(Council of Indigenous Peoples)列為瀕危語言,語言是隨時隨地都可能滅絕的族群,該族群人口比例懸殊,部落的耆老也隨著時間不斷地衰老甚至死亡,再加上部落年輕人的外流,我們的族群語言並未妥善地被傳承下來,因而導致祖先的語言及文化正隨著時間快速地消失中,身為撒奇萊雅族後代子孫的我們,認為即刻開始保存祖先語言是極為重要的問題。 對我們及台灣來說,撒奇萊雅族群文化及語言的傳承是必須且急迫的,該事件攸關著一個族群文化的生死存亡,是極為嚴重且重要的。 去年我們開始申請該計畫,就是為了能夠透過更多力量,讓這個族群的語言有效地被記錄跟保存,我們期望能持續運作,用時間的累計,將撒奇萊雅族語言被永久的保留在維基百科中。

我們預計2024年7月到12月期間,每月舉辦一次寫作工作坊,透過集結族人與編撰者的力量,在特定的時間,有效地將撒奇萊雅族語言給記錄下來。目前活動並未籌備完成,但一定會在每個月舉辦一場,總共六場的寫作工作坊。
