Women are still less represented on Wikipedia and its Sister projects. There are still a large gap between the number of male editors and articles within Hausa Wikipedia. Lots of women are not aware of Wikiquote. Many Wikimedians in Gusau only know how to edit Wikipedia, through our past wikipedia awareness, but are not aware of Hausa Wikiquote. Hausa Wikiquote is only known by some parts of Hausa communities, and some parts are not aware of and how it works. Hausa Wikiquote is still under Incubator, due to lack of diversity of editors who edit the Project. We will help in advancing Hausa Wikiquote to a Project Wiki under Hausa Language. There are still fewer Wikipedia activities in Gusau. There was only one Wikipedia event in the entire state, organised by me. We are able to cover only a small portion of the state due to limited funding. This project is aimed at increasing the diversity of editors on Hausa Wikiquote, increasing the number of female editors on Wikiquote, increasing its popularity and recognition in Gusau, Zamfara State.
Challenges • Women participation in Hausa Wikimedia is still low • Wikipedia activities not yet known by the Gusau communities. • Hausa Wikiquote is still under incubator and needs more editors from various Hausa communities • There is need for more people to join Wikiquote • There is need to retain existing Wikipedia editors in Gusau • There is need for collaborations with students and educational bodies in promoting Wikimedia activities.
Approaches • We will invite more women, train them and retain them in the Wikimedia movement • We will promote Wikimedia in Gusau Zamfara State through Higher Institutions via both online and face to face campaign • Through the large number of editors and contributions from this project, Hausa Wikiquote will be recognised to be approved as a Wikimedia Project. • We will retain newbies via our social media groups and engage them promptly on Wikimedia activities. • We collaborate with student organisations in higher institution in Bauchi for effective campaigns.
- 7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.
The planned activities are; 1. ONLINE TRAINING/OUTREACH: We will reach out to participants via social media. We will also engage our already existing editors from Federal collage of Education and Technology Gusau in the event. There will be online training and campaigns through social media platforms and virtual office hours on Zoom. We will organize 2 online trainings on Wikiquote and how to navigate Incubator. 2. OFFLINE: We will reach out to University campuses and invite more students and teachers. We will train them through face to face training. 3. CONTEST: we will organise a contest to motivate participants in adding larger contributions 4. GENDER GAP: we will invite and encourage participation from women and other genders in the event 5. COLLABORATION: we will collaborate with student unions and departments for the purpose of this project.

(required) Include more details of the team, including their roles, usernames, Wikimedia group, and whether they are salaried, volunteers, consultants/contractors, etc. Team members involved in the grant application need to be aware of their involvement in the project.
