Changes we are trying to bring: 1. To document the rich cultural heritage of the Kadazandusun community as a reference for future generations, ensuring that young individuals gain deeper insights into the people's traditions.
2. To globally showcase the unique culture of the Kadazandusun community on Wikimedia, a freely accessible online knowledge platform. This initiative aims to provide information to individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
3. The efforts of future educators in preserving and promoting Kadazandusun culture for the sake of the race and the positive outcome for others. Through the existence of Wikimedia, this cultural legacy will not fade into obscurity in the age of technology; instead, it will be widely known, cherished, and safeguarded.
Main challenges: 1. The lack of interest and awareness among individuals, necessitating proactive efforts to engage them through on-site Wikimedia training sessions. Without our own initiative, people may remain indifferent to the significance of preserving cultural heritage.
2. Absence of a strong sense of identity among the community, posing a challenge in the preservation of the Kadazandusun culture. Efforts must be made to instill a sense of pride and ownership within the community members.
3. The imminent risk of the Kadazandusun culture fading away due to the absence of online references. Lack of free information about Kadazandusun culture on the internet. It is crucial to establish an online presence to document and share information about the culture, ensuring its continuity and accessibility for future generations.
Approaches: 1. Conduct on-site training sessions to empower individuals with the understanding that they play a vital role in preserving the Kadazandusun culture. Encourage them to contribute actively to Wikimedia projects such as Wiktionary as a responsibility, fostering a global awareness of their rich heritage.
2. Implement engaging game activities aimed at capturing the participants' interest and involvement in Wikimedia-related activities, with a specific focus on Wikimedia Commons and Wiktionary. This interactive approach helps make learning about cultural preservation enjoyable and memorable.
3. Capture diverse cultural aspects during festivals and document them extensively. Share this documentation through Wikimedia Commons, establishing it as a comprehensive platform for accessing information about the Kadazandusun culture. This ensures a rich and varied repository for individuals seeking insights into this unique heritage.
We surely have confidence that these efforts will be effective, as they contribute to raising awareness about the dedicated initiatives to preserve the Kadazandusun (KD) culture. People will recognize and appreciate the collective endeavor to safeguard this cultural heritage. Indeed, create a dedicated space to showcase the positive transformations resulting from these initiatives. This space will serve as a focal point for individuals from the Kadazandusun ethnic group, enabling them to witness and appreciate the ongoing efforts in preserving their culture. It becomes a platform for encouraging the continuity of these cultural practices into the future.
