Wiki For Librarian is a project that seeks to train and empower Librarians in the Asante Region of Ghana, as a Librarian myself and a wikipedian I have intentified a gap in the librarian space where most of the works that are in the library are not properly documented despite the fact that we have tools that does that we are not able to achieve the expected goals using those tools of accessibility but with wikipedia and its connection of projects we will be able to catalogue most of the works found in the libraries.
What we intend to do in this project is to have is to have 6 month training and edit a thon engaging librarians of various communities by having an introduction session to the wikimedia community and provide them with the necessary skills that will enable them contribute to the knowledge gap.
- 2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.
1. Partnerships - We will be looking at partnering various library institution and universities that are keen on library actvities to partake in this project.
- 2. Training & Skills acquisition - We will be looking forward to train the librarian on how to contribute to wikipedia, wikidata and wikimedia commons. These training will be a 2 month long intensive meet-up for them to acquire the necessary skills needed to contribute to the project.
- 3. Creating a community - We will be looking forward to create a Library community keen on working on activities of wikimedia projects.
- 4. Contest - After training and edi-a-thon we will have a contest where will engage participant. Certificates and gift vouchers will be given at the end of the event.
- 5. Cataloging - We are keen on having intensive training on wikidata where we will be looking at cataloging books and other library works on wikidata

1. Training & Skills acquisition - We want most of the librarians who will be interested in the project will taken through a series of training where they will acquire the skills needed to contribute and close the gap.

Most library content in Ghana can't be found structured on wikimedia project, so with this project we will be able to catalogue works in the library using wikipedia with keen interest on wikidata.

Our target participants are librarians in the Asante regions and participant who are interested in activities related to the Library community.

We are looking forward to contribute to activities around libraries and also improve upon the skills of participants through cataloging and more.
We will also create a safe environment for participant who will engage in this project by supporting them and engaging them.
