1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

Wikidata birthday is a yearly events that brings Wikipedians in all folks of life to celebrate and organize an onsite onsite event. This year I and my team proposed to celebrate Wikidata's 10th birthday by introducing Wikidata to students and like minds in Osun State who will like to contribute to Wikidata and get them involved in creating Wikidata item and celebrating Wikidata 10th Birthday Anniversary with them.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

Recruiting 50 new editors across different communities in Osun State. This will allow full participation of community members within Osun State. Training participants on how to contribute to Wikidata and introducing them to other Wikipedia projects, the training will focus on; creating Wikipedia accounts to enable them contribute to Wikidata, understand the core content policies, and understand general editing principles. During the Wikidata Birthday celebration, Day 1 will focus on ensuring that the participants get the act and art of contributing to Wikidata. Creating Wikidata Items, improving items about people, places, organizations, GLAMS of Osun State in Wikidata Adding Citations to Wikidata items about Osun State. Adding Geographical Locations of places in Osun State to Wikidata Item. Use outreach dashboard to track contributions and provide one on one support to new editors.

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

A day edit-a-thon session will be held in celebration of Wikidata Birthday, this is where we will introduce Wikidata to participants, train them on how to contribute to Wikidata and improve the skill's of existing Wikidata editors. The second day of this event will be a party where we have editors coming together to celebrate Wikidata 10th birthday.

RukayatAjeigbe(Project Lead): she is an experienced Wikimedian, She has participated in various Wikimedia projects such as WikiLoveAfrica, WPWP, Wikidata(Media personalities in Nigeria), WikiGLAM Awareness for Libraries and Librarians in Kwara, Wikidata for Libraries and Librarians in Nigeria, 1lib1ref 2022 Kwara, She also won Celtic Knot Scholarship 2022 to attend the Online Conference.

This event will promote knowledge equity aligned with the strategic direction of the Wikimedia movement because it will increase the investment of resources in underrepresented Wikimedia communities around the world. Have well structured data of Osun State community, Institutions Provide a platform for learning, capacity building and sharing of experiences and ideas around Wikidata and Wikimedia. Create partnering opportunities with local organizations from the cultural and educational sector,

This proposal is targeted at the diverse students (youth) community in Osun State. We hope to engage these participants before the project implementation through the Media, e-flyers, Posters etc The call for participation will be done through effective local communication channels which the students belong to using E-posters, and banners to promote the program on social media platforms. To ensure the sustainability of the project, after the events, participants will join as members in the wikimedia community, this will keep them updated and encourage participation during other Wikipedia events. Participants will be added to the existing messaging channels (WhatsApp and Telegram) for follow-up, updates, and questions.

10. In what ways are you actively seeking to contribute towards creating a safer, supportive, more equitable environment for participants?

The General friendly space policy for Wikimedia events will be summarised and be read at the beginning of each event to remind the participants and the organisers of the importance of friendly space policy. We will adhere to the Wikimedia friendly space policy during the event. The Wikimedia friendly space policy and UCoC will be distributed to participants before the event starts. The event premises will be safe and conducive.

I aim to learn on how to coordinate and manage participants after event. How to effectively improve content gaps on Wikidata and its sisters project. I hope to learn from participants to enhance my community engagements and priorities skills that improve contributions of editors as well as create Wikidata items. sustainability of new editors in various Wikimedia strategies.
