Methods and activities
editHow have you setup your project, and what work has been completed so far?
Describe how you've setup your experiment or pilot, sharing your key focuses so far and including links to any background research or past learning that has guided your decisions. List and describe the activities you've undertaken as part of your project to this point.
- While setting up our initial field documentation planning at the outset, we doubted that the sustaining Pandemic deadlock shall put obstacle and restrictions in our movement.
- Hence, in July, 2021, we changed our strategic set up in carrying on field documentation in respective local hotspots by our respective members residing thereon and at the same time to send teams where ever entry restriction and permission of movement will be slackened a bit.
- Subsequently, we regularly communicated with forest departments of different zones and got current updates.
- This really worked well and we had so far field documentation programmes at many zones and forests and wildlife Sanctuaries in North East India and West Bengal in every month sending 2 or 3 two-membered teams at a time in different zones.
- Members also motivated and inspired new butterfly enthusiasts in respective areas and created new wiki contributors who also joined and started field documentation programmes and uploaded images in Commons, thus giving impetus to the project's progress.
- Our long experiences and past learning in successfully handling previous 4 phases of WLB Project helped is a great deal in our critical situation decision making process.

What are the challenges
editWhat challenges or obstacles have you encountered? What will you do differently going forward? Please list these as short bullet points.
- Apart from obstacle and challenges posed by Covid-19 Pandemic restricting movements and entries at many parts of North-East India; we encountered the weather challenges on field.
- This year, North-East India and West Bengal have encountered record excessive rain and bad weather condition affecting our documentation.
- Though we plan our documentation dates after detailed consultation with weather forecast sites and area wise meteorological departments, still foul weather came unexpectedly.
- Next part, we shall try our level best to be more accurate about weather condition.
- We also hope, Pandemic restrictions for entry to North-East Forests will be slackened more allowing us to document in these forests and hotspots.
