Project Goal
editWhat will be the outputs of your project and how will those outputs contribute to advancing a specific Movement Strategy Initiative
Engaging the Arabic Community in the Movement Charter ratification methodology proposal and ensuring the best participation of our community. We are also tending to” Ensure Equity in Decision-Making at the Movement strategy, and enhance participation in future WMF meetings and reunions.

- We aim to implement this project between March 25, 2024 - April 22, 2024 and have our financial reports ready 10 days after.

- Where will your project activities be happening?
- Online. We will use Jitsi to conduct an informational podcast, a community general meeting and one-to-one interviews with representatives of user groups.
- Are you collaborating with other communities or affiliates on this project? Please provide details of how partners intend to work together to achieve the project goal.
- Our main communication is with the Arabic Community which we will reach by the general meeting and the podcast. Furthermore, we will communicate with the User groups from the community and we are looking to set one-to-one interviews with representatives of all the user groups of the community to gather more feedback. In addition,we will connect MC drafting community to set the podcast, and share it with the Arabic community.
- What specific challenge will your project be aiming to solve? And what opportunities do you plan to take advantage of to solve the problem?
- The "Equity in Decision-making" is #4 in the initiative of the MS. That is by engaging the Arabic community with the movement charter in different ways and then carrying their feedback to the stakeholders.
- Does this project aim to apply one of the examples shared in the call for grants and if so which one?
- Yes, ensure equity in decision-making, and ambassadors program grant.
Project Activities
edit- What specific activities will be carried out during this project? Please describe the specific activities that will be carried out during this project.
1st phase: Informative Podcast We will prepare questions for one of the members of the MC drafting committee to offer 15-20 minutes of information about the MC,then edit this podcast and share it with all the community on different platforms to make them more engaged in the MC and encourage them to join discussions.
2nd phase: Having a general meeting with the community, after sharing the podcast with them and encouraging them to prepare more questions and answers for the flow of the meeting.
3rd phase: One-to-one interviews with representatives of the user groups in all the Arabic community (Levant, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, UAE, Islamic Civilization UG … and others ). The questions in these interviews will be prepared according to the previous phases to have a wider and specific look on MC and its benefit for the future governance. 4th phase: Writing the final report of the Arabic community feedback after gathering all data from the meetings and the interviews.

We will be in direct contact with the community by sharing the updates in the village pump,the mailing list of Arabic Wikipedia, mailing lists of Arabic community user groups, on the meta, and the formal social media groups.
At the end of our work, we will offer a final report to conclude our work and reflect Arabic Community views for the drafts, beside a recorded podcast in Arabic available anytime to anyone who wants to have a brief idea about the Movement Charter, in addition, we will also add a Diff post for our experience, and share it with the Arabic Community.
These responsibilities will be done by (Osama, Rotana, Sandra, and Donia)
- Who will be responsible for delivering on this project and what are their roles and responsibilities?
Arabic Ambassadors of movement strategy: Osama, Sandra, Donia, and Rotana All of us will share all responsibilities; preparing the questions of the podcast, technical issues and editing of the podcast, preparing questions for community meetings and one to one interviews, facilitating all these online meetings, taking notes, analyzing data, and writing the final report. The special thing is that Each one of us comes from a region in the Arab world different from the other so this will help us to cover all the Arabic communities.

We previously worked on a grant in 2022 for the first session of draft reviewing, and we submitted a report reflecting the community's opinion and vision on the proposed strategies and drafts, with the participation of a large number of active individuals from the Arab community, in addition to engaging with individuals from the Kurdish language community.

In this phase, we will take best benefit of our previous work and learn from challenges, that is why we have added more plans and ideas for this phase.
Outcomes
editAfter your activities are complete, we would like to understand the draft implementation plan for your community. You will be required to prepare a document detailing this plan around a movement strategy initiative. This report can be prepared through Meta-wiki using the Share your results button on this page. The report can be prepared in your language, and is not required to be written in English.
In this report, you will be asked to:
- Provide a link to the draft implementation plan document or Wikimedia page
- Describe what activities supported the development of the plan
- Describe how and where you have communicated your plan to relevant communities.
- Report on how your funding was spent
Your draft implementation plan document should address the following questions clearly:
- What movement strategy initiative or goal are you addressing?
- What activities will you be doing to address that initiative?
- What do you expect will happen as a result of your activities? How do those outcomes address the movement strategy initiative?
- How will you measure or evaluate your activities? What tools or methods will you use to evaluate your activities?
To create a draft implementation plan, we recommend the use of a logic model, which will help you and your team think about goals, activities, outcomes, and other factors in an organized way. Please refer the following resources to develop a logic model:
