It will also enable our community members to discuss the newly released movement charter on Hub and Global Council and provide feedback. This project contributes to the advancement of Movement Charter Initiative 24.

24. Movement Charter: we want to ensure that our community members understand the idea behind the movement strategy and are fully engaged in conversations about the governance of the movement

Project Background

edit
When do you intend to begin this project and when will it be completed?

We hope to carry out this project between September 9, 2023 and October 28, 2023. Our reports will be ready 30 days after

Where will your project activities be happening?

Hybrid. Our community members always prefer in person events. However, members of our community are staying in different towns in Nigeria which are far from each other. We will therefore have one physical and one online event to reach all our members. We aim to ensure that everyone is truly included

Are you collaborating with other communities or affiliates on this project? Please provide details of how partners intend to work together to achieve the project goal.

No

What specific challenge will your project be aiming to solve? And what opportunities do you plan to take advantage of to solve the problem?

Our community the Wiki For Senior Citizens Network is a young one. Many members do not understand what movement strategy is. Many new members are having their first contact with Wikipedia. This project will be an opportunity for our community to appreciate the value of movement strategy and movement charter and how each person’s contribution adds up to decision making process in the movement and generally improve what we do. Members will also discuss the new Movement Charter drafts on Hubs and Global Council and provide feedbacks.

Does this project aim to apply one of the examples shared in the call for grants and if so which one?

yes. the only example shared in the call

Project Activities

edit
What specific activities will be carried out during this project? Please describe the specific activities that will be carried out during this project.

We produce physical copies of the Movement Charter draft drafts on Hubs and Global Council and distribute to members. we will then hold a physical session in Abuja where there will be general discussion on Movement Strategy and particular discussion of the new drafts. members will be encouraged to provide feedbacks. The physical session is for members who live in Abuja and environs. However, many members of our Network do not live in Abuja. we will therefore have another online session for members not living in Abuja who are not able to participate in the physical session. the new drafts will also be discussed in this online session and feedback obtained. Members will also discuss a shared plan and approach on how we engage in Movement Charter discussions. The programme will be carried out as follows:

  • 9th to 16th September 2023 production and distribution of physical copies of the 2 new drafts and open questions
  • 23rd September 2023 holding of physical session in Abuja
  • 23rd to 30th September 2023 receiving, processing and collating feedbacks from members
  • 14th October 2023 online session

  • 21th to 28st September 2023 harmonising all the responses and reviewing all the sessions to ensure successful completion of the project
How do you intend to keep communities updated on the progress and outcomes of the project? Please add the names or usernames of these individuals responsible for updating the community

we will use different channels including in our meta page, movement strategy forum, diff, social media platforms like facebook, whatsap etc

Who will be responsible for delivering on this project and what are their roles and responsibilities?

Outcomes

edit

After your activities are complete, we would like to understand the draft implementation plan for your community. You will be required to prepare a document detailing this plan around a movement strategy initiative. This report can be prepared through Meta-wiki using the Share your results button on this page. The report can be prepared in your language, and is not required to be written in English.

In this report, you will be asked to:

  • Provide a link to the draft implementation plan document or Wikimedia page
  • Describe what activities supported the development of the plan
  • Describe how and where you have communicated your plan to relevant communities.
  • Report on how your funding was spent

Your draft implementation plan document should address the following questions clearly:

  • What movement strategy initiative or goal are you addressing?
  • What activities will you be doing to address that initiative?
  • What do you expect will happen as a result of your activities? How do those outcomes address the movement strategy initiative?
  • How will you measure or evaluate your activities? What tools or methods will you use to evaluate your activities?

To create a draft implementation plan, we recommend the use of a logic model, which will help you and your team think about goals, activities, outcomes, and other factors in an organized way. Please refer the following resources to develop a logic model:

Please confirm below that you will be able to prepare a draft implementation plan document by the end of your grant:

  • I confirm that I will be able to prepare a draft implementation plan document at the end of this project

Optionally, you are welcome to include other information you'd like to share around participation and representation in your activities. Please include any additional outcomes you would like to report on below:
