Is an Edit-a-thon in Kano to add more articles in Hausa Wikipedia and train the Hausa Wikipedia editors on how to write on Wikipedia. This project will also help to introduce and give awareness on Hausa Wikipedia in Kano which is the largest Hausa city.

Project Goal

  1. Recruits new contributors/users.

  4. Meet people face to face as this will help us know what objections they have and to find ways for improvements and to persuade them to join Hausa Wikipedia.
  5. Raise public awareness about Hausa Wikipedia to Kano residence.

We are planning 1 editathon focused improving and creating Hausa Wikipedia articles.

2. How will you let your community know about the event? Please paste links below to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.

I use our social media handles Facebook, Twitter and our WhatsApp Group. I also leave a notification via

Hausa Wikipedia Discussion page and Hausa Wikimedians User Group Talk page and emailing our participants.

3. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event?

Yes, there are three experience editors and one expert in presenting the conference because there is a need for similar ones to enhance the event.

4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them? • • :We have set up computers that we will use to run the event but also some of the participants will come with their tools.

5. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
