Goals
editDid you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went? Yes, I have met the goals set for the participation to the forum. Together with other Wikimedians, we have participated in raising awareness about Wikimedia and human rights, and tried to reach as many participants as possible during the Tech Lab Day. I am satisfied with the course of the project, especially that it made good impact with the right people.
Outcome
editPlease report on your original project targets.
Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
1 Event | 1 Event | |
N/A | 37 Commons Uploads | We did not have a metric in the target as it was not a typical edit-a-thon, but more an awareness work. |
N/A | 147 total edits | We did not have a metric in the target as it was not a typical edit-a-thon, but more an awareness work. |
N/A | 12 new articles | We did not have a metric in the target as it was not a typical edit-a-thon, but more an awareness work. |

Learning
editProjects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
The attendance to the Tech Lab was good and people were interested in knowing more about Wikipedia (and in this context, how it can be used to promote human rights). The communication worked well and it was easy to talk to the visitors and explain our work to them. Since many visitors were either involved in IT or human rights (or both), they had some knowledge about Wikipedia, which helped in having interesting discussions. People were also open and eager to help in this context, so many pictures of notable people could be taken and uploaded to commons.
- What did not work so well?
The Tech Lab was rather big, and rather competitive, so it was difficult to attract people to visit the Wikimedia stand. We changed our strategy then from waiting for people to come, to instead go and try to talk and bring them to the stand.
- What would you do differently next time?
In the next editions, one idea can be to ask the forum to invite the speakers on special sessions in the Wikimedia stand, so that we take pictures of them and write their information. This can be easier than trying to find them in the venue. Another idea can be to use the three days of the forum, not only the tech lab. I have noticed that all the city of Oslo is advertised by this event, so we can for example have an edit-a-thon related to human rights on the same dates parallel to the forum. This will make the impact really bigger.
