Project Plan
editActivities
editTell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?
- We will be hosting a one-day event.
2. How will you let your community know about the event? Please paste links below to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.
- We will use our social media networks, a print press release and our gallery page and newsletter to notify potential participants about our event.
3. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event?
- Yes. We have two return contributors that have offered to assist in leading the event.
4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?
- Before our actual start time we will be offering a brief lesson, however, we will have two experienced editors on-hand to help mentor new participants. We will also have one Spanish speaker and one Arabic speaker to assist participants to which English is not their first language
5. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- We will engage with participants through our social media channels as well as by inviting them to physical meet-ups including our feminist book club, art conversations, and open studio events.
6. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- Yes! This event is being held in Detroit's Fisher Building. Touted as the "Beacon of Detroit", it struggles as does much of the city, in reconciling the city's demographics with the image it wants to present. This event will bring participants from across the cities neighborhoods, gender lines, language barriers and socio-economic statuses to give a voice that we are the beacon of Detroit. This event is intended to serve as a platform for continued dialogue both in-person and through our online contributions.
