Goals

edit

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went? Overall, we were happy with how the project went. We managed to get a lot of submissions, honestly more than we anticipated due to the current COVID-19 crisis and all the strict regulations in our country.

Outcome

edit

Please report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.

Target outcome Achieved outcome Explanation
30 participants per photowalk 25 active and known participants. The volunteers who reached out through our calls for participation amounted to 25 in total.
1000 photos 119 We unfortunately faced a 3rd wave of covid 19 in the beginning of the competition, restricting our movement within the capital, of which doesn't have much content in relation to the theme. Travel restrictions were imposed and we could not leave the capital.

Learning

edit

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well? We introduced a lot of new contributors to the community which was really a major milestone for us. We also managed to get a lot more media content than we expected which was quite impressive.
  • What did not work so well? There were some participants who reserved tickets for the photo-walks but did not communicate afterwards. There was a lot of back and forth with this. The COVID-19 also proved to be a challenge due to the limitation in social gatherings. It also became a challenge planning the logistics for people individually as opposed to a group; of which was the norm.
  • We unfortunately faced a 3rd wave of covid 19 in the beginning of the competition, restricting our movement within the capital, of which doesnt have much content in relation to the theme. Travel restrictions were imposed and we could not leave the capital. While we were not intending on travelling as groups

We had scheduled visits to certain areas where we could collect content. The travel restrictions greatly impacted the competition especially given the notice was abrupt and didn't give us much time for alternative planning

  • What would you do differently next time? I will confirm with the participants early enough to avoid having participants cancelling on the last minute or not showing up entirely.
