Number of photos uploaded to Wikimedia Commons: 200 | Number of photos uploaded to Wikimedia Commons: 130 | The planned time for shooting photos was shorter than targeted. Three targeted photowalks were conducted; participants in the photowalks were able to upload photos on commons. We expected to have a number of about 200 photos uploaded on Commons during the event, but only 130 photos were uploaded. |
Number of photos used on Wikimedia projects: 40+ | Number of photos used on Wikimedia projects: 13 | The targeted number of photos to be used on Wikimedia projects has not been reached. Participant: In totally, 25 participants responded to our contest. The participants of the contest were recruited thought different channels of communication, among others physical gatherings, WhatsApp communications. |
Photowalks | Three photowalks were planned | Three photowalks were organized in Rusizi National Park, Kigwena Natural Reserve, Lake Rwihinda Natural Reserve (Lac aux oiseaux), Rumonge Nature Reserve, Kibira National Park, Karera Waterfalls, where participants of the event shoot the photos for the Wiki Loves Earth 2022. |
Closing ceremony | Three winners of the contest | Winners of the contest were determined by the jury, and advertised during the closing ceremony. Three participants were judged as winners of the contest and awarded price gifts as determined by the contest. This is a link to the winners’ page. The jury were made by three members that are Ndizeye thierry, Samy-Alfa, Manisaac. The jury proceeded by quality of photos to determine the winners of the contest. |
Use of the photos | Uploaded photos will be useful for Wikipedia projects | Uploaded photos will be useful for Wikimedia projects such as enriching Wikipedia articles, lacking of photos. They will also be helpful for new articles creation on Wikipedia. In future, we will organize trainings in photography for unexperienced participants who will like to join the photowalk. We will to guide participants through on how to upload images on commons. This will help to skill our participants to be more experienced in the shooting in order to have photos of quality. |

- What worked well? We have recruited two news volunteers, who have uploaded photos.
- What did not work so well? The targeted number of photos to be used on Wikimedia projects has not been reached.
- What would you do differently next time? Nex time, we will plan to guide our participants within the using uploaded photos on Wikimedia projects.
