Learning
editProjects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
- Campaign was well organised and participants understood the rules before the contest started
- The events were well promoted. We designed flyers and promoted the events on our various social media platforms, mailing lists and Television.
- We collaborated with teachers and students of the university of education school of languages which helped us get a lot of editors to participate in the contest.
- We organised virtual workshops and recorded short videos to support participants.
- What did not work so well?
- Most participants had challenges editing on their mobile phones.
- Most participants were editing Wikipedia for the first time so they needed in-person training instead of virtual workshops which were totally new to them.
- We had challenges getting more reliable sources for English Wikipedia references.
- What would you do differently next time?
- We will organise more in-person workshops when Covid-19 restrictions are reduced or lifted.
- We will collaborate with more institutions to increase the number of participation.
- We hope to provide used computers to those who need them to participate in our subsequent programs.
