Goals
edit- We met our target by translating 100 messages from the most used category on the MediaWiki from English language to Gurenɛ language.
- We have continued to update/add new translations as and when required or necessary.
- It was so interesting seeing the interface of the various Wikipedia sister projects being switched from Englsih to Gurenɛ language.
- This makes usage of these wikis easy by people from the Gurenɛ language community.
- We have been able to develop a community where all of the Gurenɛ/Frafra communities may leverage on to start new projects for their dialects in the future.
- The community hosts persons from different geographical locations in the Upper East region. This boosts our chance of digitizing other dialects.
Outcome
editPlease report on your original project targets.
Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.

Learning
editProjects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
- Participants understood the Wikimedia Foundation and the essence of the Gurene Wikimedia Community to indigenes and natives.
- It was interesting and fun having to get views of participants on certain words before coming into consensus on which ones should be used.
- What did not work so well?
- There was a challenge with diction so we intend to find the right terminologies for the languages.
- Getting direct translations for some words in Gurene language was very difficult so we transliterated some words instead of translating.
- What would you do differently next time?
- We will provide enough materials [Gurene dictionary] to assist translators since most participants could not get enough resources to work with.
- Though we had some language experts, we will request the services of more to complete the task in time.
